Plan a trip down Route 66
US Route 66 stretches across the state of Oklahoma from the northeast corner to western Oklahoma and the map is dotted with great agritourism destinations along the way!
The highway ran from Chicago to Los Angeles starting in the 1920s. It stretched 2, 448 miles, more than 400 of which are in Oklahoma. Coined a number of different names over the years, the highway may be identified as the Will Rogers Highway, Main Street of America and the Mother Road.
Although no longer recognized as part of the US Highway System, the route is still intact in various places, including the stretch from Springfield, MO to Tulsa.
Plan a trip down the historic road and stop at some these destinations.
Lost Creek Bed and Breakfast in Chandler – Enjoy the themed cabins.
Murphy’s Ranch Cabin in Wellston – Nice secluded cabin where you can swim, fish and relax. Packages available for weekends, families and more.
The Round Barn in Arcadia – a landmark along old Route 66.
The road also runs through some great wine country. Stop over at

George William Lillie, dubbed Pawnee Bill, organized and traveled with his wild west show throughout the US and foreign countries. Pawnee, OK, became Lillie and his wife, May’s, home later in their entertainment careers.

Pawnee Bill's wife, May, became the Champion Girl Horseback Shot of the West with his show.
The Pawnee Bill Ranch Historic Site and Museum recreates the thrilling Pawnee Bill Historic Wild West Show the last three Saturdays in June. What a thrill it would have been to see that show!
The mansion that Pawnee Bill built in 1910, still stands and houses many of the Lillie’s original belongings. The museum houses memorabilia from the Wild West Show, Pawnee Bill and the Pawnee Indians.
The Oklahoma Historical Society maintains the Pawnee Bill mansion as well as a 1903 log cabin the Lillie’s lived in upon coming to Oklahoma. The grounds also include the original ranch blacksmith shop and a barn built in 1926.
